And the weekend went by way to fast…I worked on a little painted wall hanging using Chalk paints. Very interesting affect. I got a jar at a new shop in Williamsburg, The Velvet Rocker, really nice couple Jim & Laura Tayman. Check out the store, lots of eye candy and the possibilities are endless. 5525 Olde Towne Road, Williwamsburg, VA, or on the web: thevelvetrocker.com The white flower is the chalk paint, I machine stitched out the design and then painted it in, different media…I’ll need to explore it more, but I like it.
After that I finished up another modern quilt block hanging. Third one done, one more to quilt. See the other 2 here. They are from the block of the month we are doing, loads of fun, thanks Susan.

I swap ATCs at Quilting Adventures here in Richmond VA, great little shop. We swap every other month on the 4th Sunday afternoon, come on by and join us this Sunday. Check their web site for more details.

I have gotten a lot done just not many pictures to show for it. First off I’ve made a second Color Color wall hanging. The pattern is from Karen Sievert‘s book Prairie Point Pizzazz. Took a class from her a couple years ago wonderful teacher. I liked this quilt so much I had to make another one. Still needs to be quilted, but its getting there, love the colors and layout, thanks Ellen for the input. Alway good to get a second opinion.
I also worked on a couple modern sampler block wall hangings. Lots of quilting but really fun to do. Its part of the Richmond Modern Quilt Guilds, block of the mouth, I still need to do June’s and July’s blocks somehow I’ve missed them. The first picture is a close-up of the quilting. Had way to much fun doing these. If you’re in the Richmond, VA area, check out a meeting, third Friday of every month. The next meeting is September 19, 6:30

And a good one it is!
I’ve been busy finishing up challenges and new quilts. The reveal for the Colonial Peicemaker’s Guild was Saturday, a lot of beautiful quilts. The Challenge this year was “Scrap – Book” Challenge – any thing we wanted that was inspired by a favorite childhood book, and made from only scraps that we had on hand. I did a whole cloth, free motion wall hanging and added paint to enhance the stitches. My book was The Secret Garden.
I also made a set of 4 placemats using a new template I got at Quilting Adentures here in Richmond. It was the Mini Hex N More by JayBird Quilts. Lots of fun and fast & easy.
