Another Perfect weekend

Had a wonderful weekend! Went to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens on Saturday, plenty of blooming flowers and tons of butterflies from all over the world in the butterfly house. It was hard to get a good photo, they were flying from flower to flower. Some of their wings were a little beat up, but still beautiful. We had a nice lunch in the Tea House, good day.

In terms of sewing not to much got done. I did get a good deal done on the scarf I’m knitting. Its knitting sideways, you cast on 241 stitches, so far it looks pretty cool, I don’t know the name of the stitch. This was some of the yarn we got at the fiber festival.

The only sewing thing I got done were the borders on my Shenandoah Star table topper. Really like the darker blue green strip around it, perks it up a bit. Like it so much better then the brown border,  here

Perfect Weekend

Had a great quilting class in Williamsburg on Saturday with Barbara Cline. We made the Shenandoah Star. I really liked the technique and Barbara is a great teacher. If you ever have a chance to take a class from her, grab it, don’t miss out. We sewed like crazy and 3 of us got the top done. I’m thinking of putting a dark border on mine, but I may look for a darker aqua batik to go around the outside instead, not sure yet…
And look its not rainbow…

I also worked on more purple string blocks for Talking Turkey. 38 down 82 to go, these are the corner triangles for the block.
